Cultivating Clean Air in Urban Environments (GARDEN – ROMD00453) is a cross-border project that promotes urban gardens as a practical solution for greener cities, cleaner air, and healthier urban communities.

The project aims to improve urban environmental quality by protecting biodiversity, developing green infrastructure, and reducing pollution, with a focus on active involvement of local communities.

What is the need for a garden, an urban?

The cities of the region, from the border of Romania and the Republic of Moldova, is faced with the common challenge of which affects the quality of life and the sustainability of the urban environment.

Urban Garden Ungheni to respond to these challenges through an integrated approach that combines green infrastructure, education, environment, technological innovation, and cross-border cooperation.

What the project aims for

The aim of the project is to transform the urban garden into an instrument of change: a living space, designed and cared for by the community, and reduce air pollution, supporting biodiversity, and encourage civic engagement.

  • The development of a strategies, RO–MD for the garden urban green infrastructure
  • The implementation of the the gardens of the urban pilot-in moldova
  • The increase in the level of awareness on the protection of the environment and the sustainable management of resources;and
  • Organization educational workshops community
  • The development of a the kit replication for other cities and towns
  • To promote co-operation between public authorities, NGOS, and communities
  • The active involvement of the community in the activities of environmental education and volunteer work.

Based on the objectives and activities of the proposed project responds directly to the Priority 1 – the Community of the green in the framework of the The program Interreg v-a VI-A NEXT-Romania-Moldova 2021-2027 and contribute to achieving the specific objective 1.2 with a view to strengthening the protection and conservation of biodiversity and green infrastructure urban areas, as well as the reduction of all forms of pollution.

The implementers of the project

The project, "the Cultivation of fresh air in the city" (the GARDEN ROMD000453) is being implemented by the Association of Business InnoHub the city of Ungheni district, and the Association of the "Best", in the framework of the Programme Interreg v-a VI-A NEXT-Romania-Moldova 2021-2027, which is financed by the European Union and co-financed by the participating countries in the programme.

Business InnoHub – Chisinau (Moldova)

the project coordinator is responsible for:
  • the overall management of the project and the coordination of the partnership;
  • community engagement and education to the environment.
  • the organization of the workshops, and educational activities;
  • the development of a common strategy and a set of resources for replication;
  • the communication and dissemination of the results of the project.

The Association Of The Most Well - Iasi (Romania)

a partner with knowledge of the practice, who is responsible for:
  • The Transfer of know-how in the area of gardens, urban areas, and the loss of biodiversity;
  • his contribution to the design and operation of gardens, urban;
  • the organization of the workshops in educational and training activities;
  • the development of materials for replication, and the guidelines;
  • the connection of the project to the network, and best practices in the Usa.

The City Hall Of The Municipality Of Chisinau (Republic Of Moldova);

the public authority is a local partner, who is responsible for:
  • the provision of the public land meant for the garden urban-pilot.
  • the integration of the garden in urban planning, and infrastructure of the city;
  • support for administrative, legal, and institutional framework;
  • to facilitate the dialogue with the local community;
  • to ensure the continuity and sustainability of the garden after the completion of the project.
Location of project
The project is being implemented in two locations in the area of the border:

🇲🇩 Ungheni, Republic of Moldova, the location of the garden of the urban pilot
🇷🇴 Iasi, iasi, Romania, educational activities, exchange of good practices, and events for the replication
